Nature reserve The Veluwe, for true nature lovers!

The Veluwe is an area of natural beauty, situated between the cities of Arnhem and Apeldoorn. The area boasts long stretches of woodland, heaths of heather, sand drifts and various kinds of flora and fauna. Furthermore, you might encounter a variety of animals, including deer, roebucks and wild boar. Due to the diversity in landscape in this area, you’ll be surprised what The Veluwe has to offer. Estates where one can breathe some of the culture, but also tranquil areas for clearing the mind. The Veluwe has much to offer for active guests as well as those seeking rest. Also, there are various nature parks, which are certainly worth a visit. One of these is National Park The Hoge Veluwe. This large, actively managed nature reserve is the largest privately owned reserve in The Netherlands. It consists of 5,400 acres of woodland, heaths, fens and sand drifts. It boasts a diverse array of plants and animals, including some of the rarest and most endangered of species.

Walking and cycling routes

The Veluwe has one of the most elaborate cycling route networks of The Netherlands. Also, it is an extremely suitable area for stunning hikes. There are various cycling and hiking paths, which are available throughout the year. Besides this, cycling or hiking related activities are frequently organised, such as cycling tours stopping at beautiful sights. Why not combine cycling or hiking with a wine tasting, a bit of history or a children’s activity? It’s all possible on The Veluwe! The park is the starting point for various cycling and hiking routes. Did you not bring your bike? No problem. We have rental bicycles available. The park also has a visitors centre called the Veluwecentrum, in which the reception (Kiosk), our hospitality The Boskantine and the information point Forestry Commission Central Veluwe are situated. Our ambassadors are happy to help you there and inform you of the possibilities.
